Hello fellow Dietitians,

What an exciting time to be a member of the Alaska Dietetic Association! 2011 has started off as a great year, and I look forward to all that we get to accomplish! We have two focuses this year: public policy & reaching out to members. So far, we have had 2 socials & CEU opportunities in Fairbanks & Juneau, and plan for more in the spring. In addition, we will be offering a FREE webinar (including 1 CEU) coming up on November 14, plus our annual Winter Social being held in Anchorage on December 1st. And don't forget our Spring Conference, scheduled for Friday, May 4th on the University of Alaska-Anchorage campus. This is the same day as the UAA Dietetic Interns' graduation, so we hope to have a lot of you preceptors involved!

We're also reaching out to our members in another way by asking you to get involved in public policy! These years of health care reform give dietitians a great opportunity to be recognized as THE experts in nutrition! To this end, Tiffany Ricci (State Regulatory Specialist) and Kendra Baggett (Public Policy Coordinator) have been hard at work, putting pieces of the healthcare puzzle together. But we need your help, be on the lookout for emails and training opportunities from us soon!
