Fresenius Medical Care is looking for a dietician to join our team. We provide outpatient dialysis to patients throughout Alaska. The current opening is a combined position for the Hemodialysis and Home Dialysis programs in Anchorage and possibly also Wasilla. We are flexible depending on the amount of hours the applicant is looking to work.
Principal Duties:
Provides nutritional services for the facility's in-center and home patients as applicable in order to maximize the patient's nutritional status and improve clinical outcomes. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, supporting the FMCNA commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAI) activities. Actively participates in process improvement activities that enhance the likelihood that patients will achieve their individualized patient-specific goals as determined by the patient's physician.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 1 year professional work experience in clinical nutrition as a Registered Dietitian. Previous renal experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership competencies and skills for the position, including ability to teach, strong organizational skills, excellent communication, customer service, relationship development, results orientation, team building and decision making. Able to perform responsibilities with minimum supervision. Basic computer skills required.
Education Requirement:
Registered Dietitian as per Commission on Dietetic Registration. Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition encouraged. Current Alaska State License.

Summary
Job incumbent provides therapeutic nutrition information to CAIHC patients, CAIHC and TCC staff, and other related duties.
1. Provide therapeutic nutrition to CAIHC patients.
2. Provide nutrition and dietetic consultant services to CAIHC and TCC staff.
3. Provide WIC services to CAIHC clients and high risk clients utilizing CAIHC/TCC/WIC satellite clinic.
4. Maintain the nutrition supplement program for CAIHC recipients.
5. Attend the TCC WIC weekly meetings, at least once monthly.
6. Maintain the gestational diabetes registry.
7. Work cooperatively with the WIC/Nutrition Coordinator in developing and disseminating nutrition materials, providing outreach and referral services to clients, professional and community members, investigating alternative funding
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, food service systems management, or a related field.
2. Current Registered Dietitian certification with the State of Alaska.
3. One year of nutritional experience required.
4. Previous experience working in Rural Alaska or providing nutritional care to Alaska Natives preferred.
5. Basic computer skills and general office skills.
6. Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
7. Familiarity with medical terminology.
Physical demands: Work requires considerable walking, standing, stretching, bending, and lifting to assist patients, move equipment, and issue supplies. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and push or pull up to 200 pounds, when positioning or moving patients. May deal with patients who are substance abusers or emotionally disturbed.
Work Environment: Work is primarily in a clinical setting. May be frequently exposed to blood and other potentially infectious materials which may result in possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens, Category II
Summation: Patients served are Alaska Natives, so cultural sensitivity should be exercised. Incumbent must have pleasant manner. Previous medical and office skills includes taking vital signs, health measurements, medical terminology, universal precautions, typing, computers, filing, word processing, management of appointment book, and accurate message taking.
